Auto Reporter, New Delhi: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is set to launch its first electric scooter in the Indian market. According to media reports, the launch is expected on November 27. This first electric scooter is likely to be an electric version of the popular Activa, named “E-Activa.” Honda’s launch invitation hints at the electric nature of the product with slogans like “What’s Ahead” and “Lightning Bolt.”
Honda Activa Electric Power and Range
Honda has stated that this electric scooter will offer power equivalent to the Activa 110 and will provide a range of around 100 kilometers on a single charge. Additionally, it will feature a swappable battery option. The concept for this electric scooter was recently showcased at the EICMA Auto Show in Milan, Italy. Upon launch, it will compete with other electric scooters like the TVS iQube, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, and Ola S1.
Honda Activa Electric: Available in Three Colors
The E-Activa will have a classic scooter design, with the headlight mounted on the front panel, unlike the petrol Activa where the headlight is on the handlebar. It will come in three color options: Pearl Jubilee White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, and Premium Silver Metallic.
Honda Activa Electric Suspension and Braking System
This electric scooter from Honda will feature a telescopic fork suspension in the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It will come with a 190mm front disc brake and a 110mm rear drum brake. The scooter will be equipped with 12-inch alloy wheels, a wheelbase of 1,310mm, a seat height of 765mm, and a ground clearance of 270mm.
Honda Activa Electric Range and Battery Performance
According to reports, the E-Activa may be equipped with a 6kW mid-mounted electric motor. It will offer three riding modes – Standard, Sport, and Eco – along with a reverse mode and a physical key. The power source will be two removable 1.3kWh batteries, providing a range of up to 100 km per charge and a top speed of 80 kmph. The battery can charge from 0 to 75% in 3 hours, and a full charge with a standard charger will take about 6 hours.
Honda Activa Electric: LED Lighting and USB-C Charging
In terms of features, the electric scooter will have two TFT console options. The standard variant will have a 5-inch instrument console, while the higher-spec Roadsync Duo variant will offer a 7-inch TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, call/SMS alerts, and music control. Additionally, the E-Activa will come with an all-LED lighting setup and a USB-C charging port.
